Devotion

In the 17th Century, a revenue collector in the court of Qutub Shahi Sultan Abul Hassan, ruler of the Kingdom on Golconda, leeched money from the royal coffers to build a temple for Lord Rama. For this blatant act, the Sultan imprisoned him within the high and dingy walls of the Golconda Fort, where he spent 12 years. Such was his devotion to Lord Rama, he carved these images of deities on the stone walls of his solitary prison with pieces of rock and a pair of hands. This man was Ramadasu.
