The force of energy and the soul of Auroville, the place where there is no religion, no symbolism, no organized meditation sessions and no images of “God” . This is not a shrine. This is the big meditation “hall” where one can discover and learn to concentrate. To know more about Matrimandir, please go here.

Did you know that the discs covering this structure are actually made using real gold leaves encased in glass moulds? i was told at auroville that a total of 17 kilos of gold was used in all.
Pretty neat. I was reading about the place through the link you posted and I loved the idea. It must be real quiet and relaxed inside the “hall”.
The picture is also great. Makes you want to be there.
I am a devotee of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother from 1983, residing at Kolkata, offering service to the SAS Kolkata, 8,Shakespeare Sarani, kolkata – 700071, since the year 2005. Love to visit Pondichherry frequently. Visited Auroville twice.
