The Cardamom Hills

Bodinayakkanur may not be on your tourist map, but it should be. This quaint and beautiful town, with an even prettier railway stn, is at the base of a region called the Cardamom Hills. Much of India’s (and the world’s) supply of this spice comes from around these parts and the station is the epicenter of this trade.

The imposing mountains in the background are stragglers of the Western Ghats and through a small gap in the hills called the Bodi Pass, is the main route to Kerala from these parts of Tamil Nadu.
